So now that I knew how to properly spell Mrs. Walewska's name I got lots of hits. Unfortunately they all seem to be exactly the same recipe -- and not a proper one at that (but close). So I guess I'll have to put up the proper recipe on my own web server. Stay tuned...

Wow! Can't believe I've never seen this site before. Jeez, where've I been? Living in a hole? Great place! Like the green. Could use some curtains.
Oh right. Intro....
I've been using bittorrent since...um...I forget, now. It's been quite a while. Lessee, that was back when Experimental (which later got subsumed into BitTornado, IIRC) was cutting edge. I've tried a few different clients, but finally decided a few years ago to stick with Azureus. What can I say? It's got tons of features, makes available gobs of information, and offers excellent control over just about every aspect of the client and torrents. Add to that the plugins, and I just don't know how you could go wrong.
Everything I know about bittorrent, I pretty much learned on my own by looking stuff up. Interestingly, learning to use bittorrent actually got me to learn about networking in general (even took a Cisco class on networking at the local community college, just because I found it interesting), so I have a basic understanding of the fundamentals, I think. Unfortunately, I haven't learned how to program, so I'm not of much use in that respect. But I have helped Marc (aka omschaub) with a couple of his plugins (Stuffer and AZCVSUpdater) for Azureus. Naturally, I use the Azureus betas.
I switched from Windows to Linux (Ubuntu) about a year or so ago, so I'm probably not of much help with Windows specific issues. And I'm still learning Linux, so don't expect much from me there, either. Sorry! But for general bittorrent advice and suggestions -- and help with Azureus specifically -- I should be able to be of some use (I hope).
Oh, and I post on the Azureus forums as fos42. Just in case it wasn't obvious. Figured I'd keep the same username so as not to confuse anyone. Otherwise I might have gone with Gromit.
(Now where did I put that cheese? I hope I didn't forget it....) |

Good to have you here.
I have read several of the threads you were involved in over at Sourceforge.
Good detailed explanations and a lot of patience. |

Hi
Also arrived here from a derelict forum up the street.
Azureus is the client I use.
Demonoid was my usual torrent site. |
